Welcome to Hullegård holiday apartment

The apartment, which is an independent house of 265 m2, belongs to the farm Hullegård. The apartment consists of 5 rooms with double beds on the 1st floor. On the ground floor, there is one bedroom (twin beds), a fully-equipped kitchen/living room with an electric stove, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, TV, and Internet, 2 toilets / bathrooms with shower (one with washing machine and dryer) and a room with a billiard table. The apartment can fit up to 12 people and is totally renovated in spring 2009. In front of the house is the garden, and it is equipped with garden furniture, a barbecue and a pétanque playing field (4 x 15 meters). Everything is created in the French/Scandinavian country style.

Hullegård is an idyllic farm house consisting of 4 wings and is surrounded by forests, where Scottish highland cattle are entrusted to take care of the many grass fields. The brook, Melåen, which runs through the natural garden and in quiet periods is heard clearly from the holiday apartment, is in springtime surrounded by snowdrops, crocus and anemones. Furthermore in these surroundings, nightingale sang is heard all through the night until Midsummer Day. The forests and the nearby marsh make also geese, pheasants, and dozens of small and migratory birds come as frequent guests at the courtyard.

History
Hullegård is an ancient farm, and its different owners are known throughout the last 350 years. The brook Melåen runs through the farm. There are two old sandstone bridges in the garden that were used 90 years ago to transport people in carriages in order to move them from the south to the nearby town, Nexø. Moreover, in the south of the farm, settlements in the form of a relic of the past from 5400 B.C. to around 3900 B.C. (early to late medieval) have newly been found. The on-going archaeological excavations in the area indicate civilizations long before our time.

Geography
The meadows of the farm face a bog, Hundsemyre mose, which is a bird sanctuary with dedicated bird towers. Unfortunately, due to the breeding season in the bog there is no access from 15 March – 30 June. As mentioned above, Hullegård is situated 1 km (0.62 miles) from Snogebæk which during the lively summer period – despite its limited size – has 6 restaurants and a pub (see among others www.aeblehaven.dk). Furthermore, Snogebæk has a very picturesque harbour. The well-known hand-made chocolates, KjærStrup Chocolate – Chocolate by hand (which also has branches in Copenhagen, situated in Jægersborg, Fields and Axelborg) and Pernille Bülow Glass have also found their way to Snogebæk. The supermarket, Brugsen, in Snogebæk is open daily all year round, except on 1 January.

If you drive 3 km (1.86 miles) to the south of Hullegård you get to the well-known Dueodde Beach, with its snow-white beaches stretching miles to the west. Here you can enjoy the truly peaceful beach as if it were paradise.

Approximately 6 km (3.73 miles) to the north is the town Nexø, which is well equipped with shopping possibilities.

Also Nexø’s famous restaurants and the fish shop in the port set their mark on the fishing town. Before you reach Nexø you go through the beach, Balka Strand. Balka Strand is a wonderful beach – probably the best on the island. Balka Strand has one restaurant which is very popular throughout the whole summer.

Approximately 15 km (9.32 miles) north of Hullegård, you find the old town Svaneke which speaks for itself. Do not forget to visit Svaneke Sweets “Svaneke Bolscher”, Svaneke Brewery “Svaneke Bryghus”, Svaneke Toffee “Karamelleriet på Bornholm” and Pernille Bülow Glass and Liquorice workshop.

Rent a bike
Bornholm is known as a bicycle island and is very well equipped with cycle paths. Thus, it is obvious to see the island on a bicycle (www.cykel.bornholm.info). You can rent a bike at “Boss”, which is approximately 1.2 km (0.75 miles) from Hullegård and it is open all year around.

Golf
2 km (1.24 miles) west of Hullegård you find Nexø Golf Club. On Bornholm there are a total of 3 golf clubs (Rønne Golf Club, Rø Golf Club and Nexø Golf Club).
